Marcy has retired from her daytime job, but continues to assist faculty and doctors-in-training with their research pursuits.
In the Renaissance (Cinquecento to her), art and science were often practiced by the same person. Why not in the 21st century? In her career as a scientist, Marcy, with a Ph.D. in biophysics, is an emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center with an interest in pulmonary function testing and in medical technology. She has been involved in AAMI (Advancing Safety in Medical Technology), beginning with the Young Investigators' Committee in 1994, advancing to become the Chair of the AAMI Board of Directors in 2010; she is currently on the AAMI Foundation Board of Directors.
